After earning her accounting degree and spending more than a decade leading financial operations as a Controller and CFO, Joan Blair saw a pattern she couldn’t ignore: small businesses desperately needed high-level financial guidance, but not on a full-time payroll.

Time after time, she watched entrepreneurs juggle bookkeeping, payroll, reporting, and strategy on their own—often late at night, often inconsistently, and often without the financial clarity they needed to grow. Many couldn’t justify hiring a full-time CFO, yet they were outgrowing basic bookkeeping support.
Joan recognized the gap.

I’m a bookkeeper and fractional CFO with over 10 years of hands-on financial experience helping organizations understand their numbers and make smarter decisions. My career has taken me through both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors, serving in Controller and CFO roles where I managed everything from monthly closes and cash flow forecasting to grant compliance and audit preparation. I’ve supported startups, established businesses, and mission-driven organizations—cleaning up books, building out reporting dashboards, improving internal processes, and helping leaders feel confident about their financial picture. I’m passionate about taking complex financial data and translating it into clear, accessible information that empowers people to run their organizations with confidence.
